Why I do not recommend Kazumi Coffee
My order from payment through the 114-day snapshot, including the partial shipment, missing Toki, cracked flask, and cancellation terms.
I bought the Kazumi system for its distinctive siphon design and dedicated Toki stove. I do not recommend it based on the long wait, the undelivered Toki, the cancellation terms, an assembly issue, and a flask that cracked during my fourth use.
I saved the receipt and emails. Private information has been removed from the copies published here.
What I ordered
On April 10, 2026, I paid $423.47 to Oracle Cabling Inc. for:
- a Kazumi Siphon Coffee Maker Set — $199.99;
- a 110V Kazumi Toki stove — $199.99;
- a 250 ml Kazumi beaker — $14.99; and
- $18.50 shipping, less a $10 discount.
I selected standard listed options and was not asked for buyer-specific customization.
The wait
By June 19, I had been waiting for more than two months and asked to cancel. Kazumi responded that every product was made to order, production began promptly, and cancellation requests were handled under its Terms of Service.
I accepted a split shipment after Kazumi gave a revised early-July estimate for the coffee maker. The June 29 notice listed the beaker and Siphon Coffee Maker Set, but not the Toki. As of August 2—114 days after payment—the Toki had not shipped or arrived.
The assembly problem
After delivery, I reported that the connecting tube touched the bottom of the flask. Kazumi called this common during initial assembly and advised rotating the glass while applying gentle pressure. That exchange does not prove a defect or a connection to the later crack.
The flask cracked
On July 18, during my fourth use, the lower flask cracked on a gas stove set to medium-high. It contained 400 ml of room-temperature water, was not heated empty, and had no prior impact or chip.
Kazumi’s system acknowledged my ticket, but the retained records contain no substantive response. My package did not include printed brewing or heat-safety instructions, although Kazumi publishes guidance online.
The cancellation and return terms
Kazumi’s current Return & Refund page directs customers to its Terms. Those Terms provide a full refund for cancellation within one day, but say cancellations after one day—including delayed orders—receive a 45% refund while Kazumi retains 55%. They also state that an unused return is refunded at 45% after inspection.
Kazumi ties that retention to custom production. Its public listings show fixed products and standard selections, and its correspondence refers to production batches. I cannot verify its manufacturing process, but the public information does not explain what is customized for each customer. Read the detailed comparison.
What I liked
The design is visually interesting, the siphon process is engaging, and Kazumi gave a concrete response to my assembly question.
What I did not like
- the delay beyond the estimate I understood at purchase;
- the current 55% retention term for cancellations requested after one day;
- the difference in detail between the public return summary and the Terms;
- the absence of printed instructions in my package;
- the assembly uncertainty on arrival;
- the lower flask cracking during my fourth use; and
- the Toki remaining unshipped and undelivered as of August 2, 2026.
Conclusion
Based on this order, I would not purchase from Kazumi again. This site documents my outcome and does not claim every customer will have the same one.
